Holly Drye is a BFA Studio Art undergraduate at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. Painting and drawing are her primary medium, following the techniques of oil painting while simultaneously exploring her own methods of value and texture through visible brushstrokes and layers of paint. She explores the themes of self expression, identity and familiarity throughout her work. Overall, she paints with an interest in eliciting emotions and connections to her audience, shaping the incorporation of the human figure and facial expressions. Drye’s work has strong influence from comics and digital media, visualized through her painterly style and choices of perspective.
